Desperate Ground
This multi-media dance performance was created by Iranian-American dancer Brittney Banai, and jewish filmmaker Laura Conway to study and critique political oppression, apartheid, and power in the middle east.
The props were a closed circuit surveillance camera, a life sized lazy suzan, and a toothbrush. The starting point was the assassination of Qasem Soleimani. The result was an investigation of U.S. American political relationships deconstructed to the level of archetypal power dynamics.
